Resources for Others in Tech
I was a PM for all of 3 years, all the while interested in design, and I know there are a few resources I would've loved to see years earlier to help me get a better grasp on what exactly UI/UX design was all about. Here's a couple of them.
- 7 Rules for Creating Gorgeous UI. If you want the "80/20" analysis of what makes for a good design, check out this mega-viral, 5,000-word beast of a post on the most useful lessons in visual design that I know.
- Color in UI Design: A Practical Framework. Working with color is one of the toughest parts of UI design. Here’s my proposal for a simple, practical way to use color – that looks clean and modern to boot!
- Interactive Typography Tutorial. This is my gamified guide to typography skills (choosing fonts, styling text). UX pioneer Jakob Nielsen called it "practical… effective" – and I’ll leave it at that 😎
